Daniel Boone Middle School Softball program
Posted on: 2012-01-23
Dear Friends: There is an issue involving the Daniel Boone Middle School Softball program and we need your help. As many of you are aware, last year there was the threat of losing all Middle School sports. The Daniel Boone Community rallied with an email campaign that flooded the Athletic Director's inbox with more than 300 emails in 24 hours. Because of that email campaign, the issue was quietly ...settled without it being brought up at the open School Board Meeting. One of the concessions made in the effort to save the Middle School athletic program was the elimination of paid assistant coaches. Due to the nature of the scheduling of the Middle School Softball games, this requires both teams to play at the same time on different fields. One coach cannot be at 2 games and utilizing a volunteer would violate the District's Code of Conduct, as they would be essent ially alone with the student athletes. An unintentional consequence of the elimination of the assistant coaches is the elimination of the Middle School JV Softball team. The net cost to the district to solve this issue is under $1,000. I am asking you to help support our effort in providing our female softball athletes the same opportunities offered in every other sport at the Middle School level.
Please insert your own name and copy and paste the following and send it to the Athletic Facilitator, Ms. Goss, at goss@dboone.org and dbfairplay@gmail.com.
Dear Ms.Goss, I support providing the Middle School softball athletes the same opportunities afforded the other athletic programs at the Daniel Boone Middle School. This requires that Dr. Otto and the School Board approve the hiring of a coach for the JV softball team. The cost to the district is minor in comparison to the cost to those softball athletes who will not be given the same opportunities as their peers.
Thank you for supporting the student athletes in Daniel Boone,

| You’re Invited to a Route 422 Forum
Posted on: 2011-08-29
Let your voice be heard on a proposal to toll Route 422! Please join me and several of my House colleagues at a forum to publicly discuss tolling Route 422. In June, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) unveiled a proposal to levy a toll on Route 422. I have stated my opposition to this and any tolling proposal that does not gather input from the people who would be most affected by tolling. I am hosting this forum to give my constituents the opportunity to ask questions and voice their opinions and concerns.
The details for the event are: When: Tuesday, Sept 13 Time: 7:00 p.m. (Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.) Where: Pope John Paul II High School 181 Rittenhouse Road Royersford, PA 19468
The evening’s panelists will include: State Reps. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery), Warren Kampf (R-Montgomery/Chester), Mike Vereb (R-Montgomery) and Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery); Stan Huskey, Times-Herald editor; Barry Seymour, executive director of the DVRPC; and Montgomery County Commissioner and former DVRPC Board Chairman Joe Hoeffel.
This is an interactive event and audience participation is encouraged. If you are unable to attend, but would like to submit a question for the panelists, please contact my district office at 610-409-2615.
Please note – a tolling proposal would need approval from the Legislature. No tolling legislation currently exists in either the state House of Representatives or the state Senate.

| EPA Rule Requires Lead Safe Remodelling / Renovation
Posted on: 2010-06-07
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued regulations which took effect on April 22, 2010. These new rules require all contractors and renovators who do renovation, repair or painting work on homes built prior to 1978 to be cerified in 'Lead Safe' work practices. Most of the homes in the Amity Gradens community are 32 years old or older and would require the use of these practices. The website link below opens a .pdf file brochure from the EPA with information for home owners about renovation guidelines and where to get more info.

| Could US Route 422 become a Toll Road?
Posted on: 2009-03-27
On Monday, March 23, 2009, I had the opportunity to attend a Montgomery County Planning Commission presentation on the ongoing study of the possible extension of Rail Service from Norristown, PA to Reading, PA.
Ongoing studies expected to last through a 2011 decision making process are looking at options including possibly converting US Route 422 to a Toll Road from Amity Township Berks County through to the King of Prussia area in Eastern Montgomery County.
Official information is available at www.r6extension.com along with frequently asked questions and the opportunity to sign up for email updates as they become available.
If you currently own, or are considering buying a home along the Route 422 Corridor, the decisions made regarding this major roadway may have a significant impact on transportation options in the area.
Let me be clear, at this point this is only an ongoing study to determine feasibility of extending the rail service and possibly using tolls to pay for road repairs and some of the rail costs.
I'll be keeping an eye on the process. Please let me know if you find this information helpful.
Thank you, Alan Rieger, CENTURY 21 ALLIANCE
