Daniel Boone Middle School Softball Program
Dear Friends: There is an issue involving the Daniel Boone Middle School Softball program and we need your help. As many of you are aware, last year there was the threat of losing all Middle School sports. The Daniel Boone Community rallied with an email campaign that flooded the Athletic Director's inbox with more than 300 emails in 24 hours. Because of that email campaign, the issue was quietly ...settled without it being brought up at the open School Board Meeting. One of the concessions made in the effort to save the Middle School athletic program was the elimination of paid assistant coaches. Due to the nature of the scheduling of the Middle School Softball games, this requires both teams to play at the same time on different fields. One coach cannot be at 2 games and utilizing a volunteer would violate the District's Code of Conduct, as they would be essent ially alone with the student athletes. An unintentional consequence of the elimination of the assistant coaches is the elimination of the Middle School JV Softball team. The net cost to the district to solve this issue is under $1,000. I am asking you to help support our effort in providing our female softball athletes the same opportunities offered in every other sport at the Middle School level.

Dear Ms.Goss,
I support providing the Middle School softball athletes the same opportunities afforded the other athletic programs at the Daniel Boone Middle School. This requires that Dr. Otto and the School Board approve the hiring of a coach for the JV softball team. The cost to the district is minor in comparison to the cost to those softball athletes who will not be given the same opportunities as their peers.
